CBC & CRC Committee

Meetings: Third Monday of each month at 10:00a.m. – 12:30p.m.

Location: Via Microsoft Teams

The CBC & CRC committee meets on an ad-hoc basis to review or propose code changes to the International Building Code, International Fire Code, International Residential Code and the International Existing Building Code. The chapter also comments on proposed changes by State agencies to the CBC, CRC and CEBC. The committee meets on the third Monday of each month, which precedes the Chapter meeting that occurs on the third Tuesday of the Month. Meetings are held at 9601 Ridge haven Court, Suite 200 2nd Floor training room. Due to the current pandemic this committee will meet via Microsoft Teams.

Accessibility Committee

Meetings: Third Thursday of each month at 11:00a.m.-12:00p.m.

Location: Via Zoom

The Accessibility Committee discusses and disseminates information related to the California Building Code Chapter 11A (Housing) and Chapter 11B (Public Accommodations, Commercial Building, Public Housing) Accessibility Provisions (Title 24), as well as the Federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations to the ICC-San Diego Chapter membership. The mission of this committee is to promote a consistent application and interpretation of the accessibility standards throughout the jurisdictions in San Diego area.

Education Committee

The Education Committee organizes education seminars on relevant Building Code topics that are important to Building Officials, Building Inspectors, Plan Reviewers and the construction industry. Members are responsible for reaching out to interested industry professionals, scheduling training seminars, securing training rooms and meals and managing payment of participants. Due to the current pandemic this committee will meet via Microsoft Teams.

CALGreen Committee

Meetings: Second Wednesday of each month at 9:00a.m. to 12:00p.m.

The CALGreen committee meets every month to discuss Energy and Green code standards. Due to the current pandemic this committee will meet via Zoom

Electrical Code Committee

Meetings: First Thursday of each month at 11:30a.m.-1:30p.m.

Location: Via Microsoft Teams

The Electrical Committee meets to discuss the California Electrical Code and related construction issues; determine if common interpretation is possible for certain requirements and publish the San Diego Area Electrical Newsletter. The committee meets on the first Thursday at 9601 Ridgehaven Court, Suite 220 training room. Due to the current pandemic this committee will meet via Microsoft Teams.

Plumbing & Mechanical Code Committee

Meeting: First Wednesday of each month at 10:00a.m. – 12:00p.m.

The Plumbing and Mechanical Code committee meets to discuss the latest plumbing and mechanical code provisions affecting local jurisdictions at Esgil Corporate office at 9320 Chesapeake Drive Suite 208. Due to the current pandemic this committee will meet via Microsoft Teams.

Communications Committee

This committee meets monthly to increase communication provide real-time information for our participating jurisdictions, building safety professionals and other members of the association. They promote relevant topics such as information and photographs related to the chapter meetings, training events, job posting, CALBO annual dinner, and our chapter annual dinner

The Technology Committee meets on an ad-hoc basis to review, investigate, or propose to the executive committee recommendations or technology initiatives that benefit member jurisdictions and the operations of the chapter.  Topics may include and are not limited to electronic plan review, permit application management and issuance and inspections as well as digital construction plan management and storage applications and online platforms/portals. Remote and virtual inspection tools, electronic hardware, and online portals as well as best practices are investigated and evaluated.  Handheld remote inspection tools and devices, and electronic standards are also within the scope.
